What is it about pottery that I love?

I could make a list a mile long: the earthy smell of my studio when I walk in, the feel of the clay between my fingers, the energy that grows in my arms as I mix my own glazes, or the touch of the smooth glazed porcelain on a finished piece.
All are true but what I truly love most about my art is the magic. There is a rush I feel every time I place my fingers on one spot of the clay as it turns on the wheel, and begins to grow into something beautiful. It's also the thrill of the moment when I open the kiln to see a glaze that was once a plain paste, now covered with beautiful crystals. Thank you for visiting my site! Nichole Vikdal |
