Artist Statement
Nature has always fascinated me with its ever-changing beauty, intricate patterns, and endless mysteries. I am especially drawn to the things that cannot be fully predicted or controlled, where unexpected beauty emerges in ways that could never be planned.
Through crystalline glazing, I explore that same sense of mystery and discovery. I formulate my own glazes and carefully shape each porcelain form, but once a piece enters the kiln, the crystals grow in their own unpredictable ways. Opening the kiln is always a moment of anticipation and wonder. No matter how much experience I gain, each firing holds the possibility of something entirely new.
My greatest joy comes from discovering how the crystalline glaze and porcelain form come together, harmonizing in color, movement, and texture until it becomes difficult to distinguish where one ends and the other begins. The process reminds me that some of the most extraordinary beauty comes from allowing nature to reveal what cannot be forced or foreseen.
