Dancing Ladies Series
|
My Dancing Ladies series is one of my most favorite
collections to create. I was inspired by the captured moment of a beautiful dancing woman as seen in paintings and photography. The flow of the dress, curve of the hips and reach of the arms creates a stunning movement frozen in time. Clay feels much the same to me: once alive on the wheel, full of motion and momentum, it becomes forever fixed in place by the heat of the kiln. Like a dance, every moment in life is fleeting; therefore, I named many of these pieces after a moment in my own life--small, precious instants I with I could hold onto, capture and save forever, just like the crystals frozen in time upon each surface. Each piece below tells their story. |

"Together Forever"
23 x 16 x 16 in. This piece celebrates the unity my husband and I have shared throughout our marriage. During its creation, the original base didn’t survive the kiln, though the top emerged beautifully—too beautiful to abandon. Mark suggested we honor it rather than discard it, and he crafted the metal stand that now completes the form.
That collaboration became its deeper meaning. Just as his creation supports my artwork, Mark supports me. His steady encouragement has allowed me to grow into the artist I am today. This sculpture is a tribute to the strength often born from partnership—that a woman stands taller, steadier, and more confidently when she is supported with love from anther. |

"A Lake Awakened by My Gentle Touch"
17 x 11 x 9 in. This piece is inspired by a quiet, unforgettable moment during a backpacking trip in the Palisades. After an eight-mile climb, my feet ached as we reached Upper Palisades Lake—a stretch of water so still it mirrored the sky. Drawn to its cool clarity, I dipped my toes in, and a single ripple unfurled across the glassy surface, traveling the length of the lake. It felt as though the water had been sleeping, and my touch softly stirred it awake.
This piece captures that memory—of connection, stillness, and a woman becoming one with the natural world. The flowing form and crystalline textures echo the movement of that ripple and the serenity of the lake that held it. |
Not all my sculptures qualify to be in the Dancing Lady Series.
Only the ones that come out of the kiln with exceptional beauty, demonstrating a balance between the movement of the porcelain and the quality of the crystals that have grown on its surface. Even this is still not enough to be considered. It's when I clean it up and step back to take my first look at it that it goes one step further:
it tells me her story.
Please, come back again to see new pieces I decide to add in the future.
